EMS Methodology — Study Overview
This overview summarises how the Muscle Protocols methodology structures supervised whole-body electromyostimulation sessions in professional care: the initial assessment, the construction of a training protocol, the management of dosage and progression, and the safety framework that surrounds every session.
What the methodology covers
Every programme starts with an individual screening: health status, training history, current muscle function and the goals of care. On this basis the instructor prepares a protocol that defines the muscle groups addressed, the impulse parameters, the training dose and the progression between sessions. The session itself typically combines static positions and controlled movement under continuous supervision, with intensity calibrated to the client's screening and response.
Because the intensity of stimulation is high relative to the time invested, the methodology places strong emphasis on dosage: how often sessions take place, how the training load develops over weeks, and how recovery is scheduled between appointments. The instructor documents each session and adjusts the protocol based on the client's feedback and observable response. The aim is a dose the body can adapt to — not the highest possible stimulation.
Safety and supervision
Electromyostimulation is a training method for screened, healthy adults and for clients whose health status has been assessed as suitable. The protocol includes contraindication screening before the first session — cardiovascular conditions, pregnancy, acute illness and other risk factors are checked against the programme's exclusion criteria — together with informed consent. Throughout the programme a trained instructor supervises technique, compensation positions and the client's response, and cooperates with the client's physician whenever care is medically managed. The findings presented in the Knowledge Base do not replace individual medical assessment or treatment.
